Primary Features and Benefits
Performance
The Cisco MCS 7825-I2 is a robust, highly available server platform designed to support today's IP communications applications. It uses a single Intel dual-core, Pentium D, 2.8- or 3.4-GHz processor with an 800-MHz FSB.
Memory
The Cisco MCS 7825-I2 supports up to 8 GB of DDR2 memory. The increased processor performance coupled with DDR memory allows customers to retrieve and process information faster and more efficiently. DDR memory executes twice the number of operations per cycle than traditional SDRAM memory, effectively doubling the data exchange rate between memory and processors.
Variable-Speed Fan Support
The Cisco MCS 7825-I2 includes variable-speed fans to reduce operating noise. Through the use of temperature sensors within the server, the speed of the fans is adjusted to maintain the proper cooling, reducing the noise generated by the fans by operating them only when required and at a speed based upon the cooling requirements.
Serviceability
SATA and Integrated RAID
The Cisco MCS 7825-I2 server supports enhanced serviceability through integrated RAID level 1 and front-accessible, simple-swap SATA hard disk drives. If a hard drive fails, user data is preserved on the mirrored drive, and system administrators can easily replace the failing drive without removing the server from the rack, reducing downtime and providing data reliability in a compact, highly cost-effective server.
System Error LEDs
The Cisco MCS 7825-I2 provides a system error LED and system locator LED on the front of the server to make pinpointing system problems easier than ever. When a system error occurs, this indication is made on the front panel of the Cisco MCS 7825-I2. If no failures have occurred, the system error LED is not lit.
DAT Tape Drive Support
The Cisco MCS 7825-I2 can support an optional 36-/72-GB USB external Digital Audio Tape (DAT) drive, which connects through the USB 2.0 port on the server. It is available as either an external tape drive (part number DAT-USB-EXT-72=) or as a rack-mounted drive (part number DAT USB-RM-72=).
