This section presents upgrade options for the EoL products and outlines the benefits of upgrading.
CISCO SC3640 SYSTEM CONTROLLER
The recommended replacement for the Cisco SC3640 System Controller (and Cisco Access Manager) is Cisco Universal Gateway Manager (UGM) 2.0 (Table 2).
Table 2. Replacement Products
Cisco UGM is an element manager that provides support for the Cisco AS5000 family of universal gateways. Built upon the Cisco Element Management Framework, Cisco UGM enables operators to effectively configure, manage, and maintain universal gateways used in Cisco Any Service, Any Port (ASAP) applications. Each Cisco UGM system is capable of supporting more than 50,000 ports.
Cisco UGM 2.0 now supports the Cisco AS5300 Series in addition to the Cisco AS5800 Series and all Cisco universal gateways, which have been supported since Cisco UGM 1.0.

EoL Q&A
Q. Does the Cisco Universal Gateway Manager replace the Cisco SC3640 System Controller?
A. The Cisco SC3640 is not needed with Cisco UGM. Unlike Cisco Access Manager, Cisco UGM doesn't require the Cisco SC3640 for management.
Q. Can I reuse the Cisco SC3640?
A. Because the Cisco SC3640 is a Cisco IOS® Software device, you may choose to redeploy it as a Cisco 3600 Series Router by loading a standard Cisco IOS Software image.
