EOL Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
Why is Cisco Systems replacing the Cisco ATA 186 models ATA186-L-I1 and ATA186-L-I2?
A.
The Cisco ATA186-L-I1 and ATA186-L-I2 models are being replaced by newer models, the Cisco ATA186-I1 and ATA186-I2, which have the same appearance and run the same software, but add enhanced fax support. The Cisco ATA186-I1 and ATA186-I2 models have been orderable since March 2002.
Q.
Is this the EOL for the Cisco ATA family?
A.
No, this is an EOL notice for two Cisco ATA models only, the Cisco ATA186-L-I1 and ATA186-L-I2. There are no plans to EOL the Cisco ATA186-I1 and ATA186-I2.
Q.
Why such short notice for the EOS?
A.
The older Cisco ATA186-L-I1 and ATA186-L-I2 models are compatible and interoperable with the newer Cisco ATA186-I1 and ATA186-I2 models. The newer models have been orderable since March 2002, and any customer that was planning to order the older models after the EOS date will be able to order and use the newer models instead.
Q.
How about warranty replacements?
A.
Any Cisco ATA186-L-I1 or ATA186-L-I2 units in the field that require warranty replacements will be replaced with the newer models. The customer will not notice any difference in service except for the enhanced fax pass-through capabilities of the newer units.
Q.
Why is there no listed date for end of contract renewal?
A.
The ATAs do not have service contracts. They are currently governed by the standard Cisco 90-day manufacturing warranty.
