END-OF-LIFE NOTICE, NO. 2287

Cisco Systems® announces the End-of-Life of the Cisco® SC 2200 Signaling Controller and Software Release 7.4(12). The last day to order the Cisco SC 2200 Signaling Controller is March 5, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until March 5, 2007. Table 1 describes the End-of-Life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco SC 2200 Signaling Controller.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch, which is a renaming of the Cisco SC 2200 Signaling Controller. The existing functionality on the SC2200 Signaling Controller has been migrated into the PGW 2200 Softswitch. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco SC 2200 Signaling Controller to the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch.

The recommended replacement for the Cisco SC 2200 Signaling Controller is the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch (Table 3). The Cisco SC 2200 is renamed the Cisco PGW 2200 for Release 9.3(x) and later. All of the existing functionality of the Cisco SC 2200 will be combined with the new functionality in Release 9.3(x) and later in the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch.

End-of-Life Q&A:

Q. Why is Cisco announcing the End-of-Life for the SC 2200 Signaling Controller?
A. All features and functionality that exist in the SC 2200 have been migrated to the PGW 2200. In addition, Release 9.x of the PGW operates on Sun Microsystems platforms running Solaris 2.8, the SC 2200 only operates with Solaris 2.6, which has been End-of-Life/End-of-Sale. As a result, the only supported hardware platform that will run Solaris 2.6 is the Netra 140x. Sun will be announcing the EoS of the Netra 140x by the end of July.
