PRODUCT OVERVIEW

CiscoWorks Interface Configuration Manager (ICM) is a network management application that simplifies and automates bulk configuration of switch access ports, resulting in faster configuration deployment with reduced misconfigurations. CiscoWorks ICM 1.0 can be used to configure Layer 2 Network Admission Control (L2 NAC), a new technology from Cisco Systems® that controls network access based on the identity and posture of the client(s). CiscoWorks ICM simplifies L2 NAC configuration and reduces the time needed for consistent L2 NAC configuration on Cisco® LAN switches.

PREREQUISITES

CiscoWorks ICM 1.0 requires a restricted or unrestricted version of CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 2.5 (with the December 2005 update applied) or 2.5.1. CiscoWorks Resource Management Essentials (RME) 4.0.2 or later, which is part of CiscoWorks LMS is required as a minimum.

Evaluation Software

Evaluation software allows 50 ports to be managed for 90 days and is available in the Cisco Marketplace at: www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/marketplace/welcome.pl

Software Support

Technical support services are orderable on these products, through Cisco Software Application Support (SAS) programs. Service part numbers can be found on Cisco.com online ordering tools and price lists.

ORDERING INFORMATION

CiscoWorks ICM 1.0 is orderable in four parts.

1. Customers first order the base software kit with part number CWICM-1.0-BASE-K9. Once the software is selected in the Cisco Ordering Tool, several right-to-use (RTU) options will appear.

2. These RTU options provide licensing of 5000, 15,000, 50,000, and 100,000 ports. You can pick and choose any number of these RTU licenses based on the number of ports you plan to manage in your network.

3. Third, customers returning to add additional port licenses can do so using the part numbers with equal signs (=) following the number. For example, if you purchase one base software kit and a 15,000-port RTU option, you can return in three or six months and order another 5000-port RTU license using the CWICM-10-5K-LIC= part number.

Note: If you require an additional CiscoWorks ICM server to expand your network, you will need to purchase another base software kit and add the desired number of RTU port licenses. You cannot purchase only the base software without any RTU port license options.

4. Fourth, you can request CiscoWorks ICM Evaluation (EVAL) software from your direct or channel reseller or partner using the online Cisco Marketplace: www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/marketplace/welcome.pl.

ORDERING EXAMPLES

Example 1: ABC Enterprise wants to manage 5000 ports using CiscoWorks ICM.

Example 3: ABC Enterprise (see Example 1) has been using CiscoWorks ICM for six months and has now expanded its network. It wants to increase the number of licensed ports to 60,000 so it needs to add the following RTU port licenses to its CiscoWorks ICM in addition to the already purchased 5000-port RTU license.

Two license files need to be installed in the system, one for each of the spares purchased. After the two license files are installed, the system will allow a total of 60,000 ports to be managed in one CiscoWorks ICM server instance.
