Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for Cisco® Catalyst® 6500 Series Network Analysis Module (NAM) Software 3.1 for the first-generation NAM. This includes the end-of-sale of software license options for both application response time (ART) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) monitoring. These licenses are enabled through Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series NAM Software 3.1 on the first-generation NAM. The last day to order the software and licenses is June 15, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until June 15, 2008.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series NAM Software 3.1 for the first-generation NAM. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the second-generation NAM with Cisco NAM Software 3.3 or later to take advantage of new features, increased performance, and monitoring enhancements. Second-generation NAMs are available in two hardware versions, NAM-1 and NAM-2, to meet diverse network analysis needs in a switching environment running up to gigabit speeds.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series NAM Software 3.1 for the first-generation NAM is the Cisco NAM-1 or NAM-2 with NAM software 3.3.
