Problem Description
The issue is with accessory parts, Optical Bypass modules, that are shipped with SCP boxes. They do not meet physical specifications.
Background
Optical Bypass modules supplied by Tyco are accessory units that are shipped individually or with SCP boxes. These modules are external and do not get installed inside SCP chassis.
A customer received 4 Optical Bypass modules that were wrong size. These 4 modules couldn't fit inside the panel that the customer used to mount all optical bypass modules. The customer returned these modules to Cisco as Dead on Arrival (DOA) since they were bigger than what they were supposed to be.
Problem Symptoms
The Optical Bypass modules that are shipped with SCP boxes do not meet physical specifications. The modules are too big and can not be plugged into the panels that Cisco supplies.
Workaround/Solution
Affected customers can request Return Materials Authorization (RMA), per Field Notice 62629.
How to Identify Hardware Levels
If the External Optical Bypass module does not fit into the opening in the front panel shipped with it, the module should be returned to Cisco.
