Problem Description
Under certain conditions (see the Background section) on the Redhat Linux OS, the installation of CM and/or Sybase fails due to a problem with a procedure that performs disk free space checking. This procedure is present in all three installers.
Background
The CM and Sybase installers attempt to verify the available disk space before starting their operation, to make sure there is enough space for installing. This is done by calling the "df" utility and parsing its output. On Redhat Linux, when the mount point used for the disk partition being checked has a very long name, as in the case of logical volumes created by the Redhat-4 installer, the "df" output is not parsed correctly, causing the check to fail.
Problem Symptoms
When starting the installer, it aborts with a message indicating that there is not enough space to perform the installation, regardless of how much space is actually available.
Workaround/Solution
On Linux, when choosing the directory for the CM//Sybase installation, only choose a directory which is on a file system mounted on a short-named directory. The output of "df", when run on this directory, should contain just one line after the header.
