Products Affected
SCE SCAS BB - 3.0.0
Problem Description
The HTTP-Redirect functionality is not working with browsers that use HTTP 1.0 only. Browsers that are not set to support HTTP 1.1 will show a hanged HTTP request instead of performing an automatic redirection to the desired URL.
Background
Redirection of a subscriber HTTP session is one of the SCE capabilities. The redirection is done by sending a special response packet to the subscriber browser that replaces the HTTP-Server response. This response causes the browser to access the redirected URL as indicated in the response packet.
Problem Symptoms
As part of the enhancements in 3.0, the logic for the redirection packet generation was changed. As a result, the response packet complies only with HTTP 1.1. Browsers that are not set to support HTTP 1.1 will not perform the redirect. This is the case for Mozilla Firefox browser in its default configuration or for Microsoft Internet Explorer when it is configured not to support HTTP 1.1. When the browser does not support HTTP 1.1, a redirect attempt made by the SCE will cause the subscriber to experience a hanged HTTP request instead of an automatic redirect.
Workaround/Solution
There is no technical workaround for the problem. It is possible to advise subscribers to configure their browser to support HTTP 1.1.
The problem is expected to be resolved in the coming SCA BB 3.0.3 release.
