Products Affected
SCE SCAS BB - 3.0.0
Problem Description
Link failure-reflection and connection-mode configurations under LineCard interface configuration are not saved correctly to the startup-config and/or presented correctly in the running-config.
Non-default lines are not read into the running config. The system is otherwise unaffected.
The problem occurs only if the failure-reflection or connection-mode configuration parameters are different from the default setting.
Background
The startup-config is a text file that includes all the non-default configurations to be applied after the SCE reloads. It is created upon execution of the CLI command and/or after applying the Service Configuration (PQB) file. Due to a bug in the procedure that creates the configuration file, the two lines that should include the link failure-reflection and connection-mode configuration, if their state is not the default, are incorrectly written to the configuration file.
The same procedure is used also to display the running-config, so this problem applies to the running-config as well.
Problem Symptoms
The startup configuration and the running configuration include the following lines:
interface LineCard 0 on-all-portsconnection-mode inline
When the SCE executes the startup-config, after reload, these lines fail to run and the default configuration of link failure-reflection and connection-mode are applied.
Workaround/Solution
Manually edit the /tffs0/system/p3hidden/config/genstart.txt file. If it does not already exist, create it. See Note 1.
Add the configuration you wish to be applied after the SCE reloads. Since the link failure-reflection and connection-mode are part of the LineCard interface configuration, you must add the line before these commands.
For example:
LineCard interface 0 link failure-reflection on-all-ports connection-mode inline
Note 1 - File Creation Instructions
-
Copy from the SCE or create a file with the name genstart.txt
-
Edit the file and add the configuration lines that are non default.
For example:
interface LineCard 0 link failure-reflection on-all-ports connection-mode inline
-
Copy the file to the SCE /tffs0/system/p3hidden/config/genstart.txt
