Description
Maintenance Operations Protocol (MOP) resides at the Network Management Layer of the DIGITAL Network Architecture, and provides direct access to lower layers for control functions. It interfaces between the User Layer and the Data-Link Layer.
The Ethernet data-link is the Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) implementation of the inter-company Ethernet data-link. It allows concurrent maintenance operations, and is a multi-access channel. It has specific protocol types and multicast addresses.
The protocol types are:
Value Protocol ----- -------- 90-00 Loopback 60-01 Dump/Load 60-02 Remote Console
The multicast addresses are:
CF00.0000.0000 (Loopback assistance) AB00.0001.0000 (Dumps/Loads assistance) AB00.0002.0000 (Remote Console)
