Cisco Systems® announces the end of sale of the Cisco® Intrusion Detection System (IDS) Host Sensor and Console product line, based on technology licensed from Entercept Security Technologies. Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console will no longer be sold as a standalone product or as part of the CiscoWorks VPN/Security Management Solution (VMS) bundle.
Cisco will continue to provide tools for intrusion prevention and for protecting critical networked servers against both known and unknown malicious attacks. New Cisco Security Agent technology will replace the current intrusion prevention solution and add capabilities for desktop protection, file integrity monitoring, application protection, and operating system lock-down.
The last day to order the standalone Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console is June 21, 2003. Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console will also be removed from the CiscoWorks VMS bundle by June 21, 2003. Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console Version 2.5 will be the last version shipped by Cisco. Cisco IDS Host Sensor signatures will continue to be available through September 30, 2003, but no future releases or major upgrades will be offered for the Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console. Customers with Cisco Software Application Support (SAS) service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until June 21, 2004. Table 1 describes the end of life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console product line.

Product Migration Information
Cisco intends to announce a product replacement and migration program in the second quarter of 2003. This program will provide a direct migration path for existing Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console customers to migrate to the new Cisco Security Agent and Management Console. This bulletin will be updated with the details of the replacement product line and the migration program before June 21, 2003.
Replacement Product Information
The Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console product is being replaced with the Cisco Security Agent product line, which is based on Okena technology. The current Cisco Security Agent part numbers are provided in Table 3, and are intended for new purchases of these security technologies and their agents. The migration program for existing Cisco IDS Host Sensor and Console standalone and CiscoWorks VMS customers will be available before June 21, 2003.
