This Product Bulletin describes the content and delivery information concerning Cisco IOS^® Software release 12.0(5)WC6. This release is specific for the Long-Reach Ethernet (LRE) solution and should be used by the Catalyst 2900 Series LRE XL switches and not the Catalyst 2900 Series XL and Catalyst 3500 Series XL. Migration Guide

Diagram 1 below displays Cisco IOS 12.0(5)WC6 release functionality relative to the 12.0 and 12.0T releases. This diagram identifies the recommended migration path for the Catalyst 2900 Series LRE XL switches only. LRE customers should upgrade from 12.0(5)WC4 directly to 12.0(5)WC6.

New Features in Cisco IOS Release 12.0(5)WC6

This is an Early Deployment release for the following platform: Catalyst 2900 LRE XL. Please note that this release is NOT intended for Catalyst 2900 XL and Catalyst 3500 XL switches. The following features will be delivered in the initial release of Cisco IOS 12.0(5)WC6 and incorporate all new features added from 12.0(5)WC4.

•RADIUS Authentication for switch console

•Port Security MAC Address Aging

•BDPU Guard

•UDLD port auto-recovery

•LRE rate selection: Automates the normally tedious manual process of selecting a profile that can be supported on a given interface

•Cluster Management Suite enhancements for LRE rate selection

•Additional LRE profiles:

–LRE-15_1

–LRE-8

–LRE-7

–LRE-4

–LRE-4_1

–LRE-4_1LL

–LRE-3

–LRE-2

–LRE-998-15-4-M2 (renamed from PUBLIC-ANSI)

–LRE-997-10-4-M2 (renamed from PUBLIC-ETSI)

•LRE persistence: LRE link state changes (up/down) are delayed to prevent spanning-tree and MAC address table changes

•Additional MIB Support:

–ETHER-LIKE-MIB

–CISCO-VDSL-LINE-MIB

–IF-MIB (RFC 1573) support for CPE Ethernet ports

–RMON-MIB (RFC 1757) support for CPE Ethernet ports

•Private VLAN Edge (protected port) for the Fast Ethernet ports on the CISCO585-LRE CPE
