Early Deployment Release 12.0(5)WC4

This product bulletin describes the content and delivery information concerning Cisco IOS^® Software Release 12.0(5)WC4. This release is specific for the Long-Reach Ethernet (LRE) solution and should be used by the Cisco Catalyst^® 2900 LRE XL Series switches and not the Cisco Catalyst 2900 and 3500 Series XL. This release provides support for the product release of the Cisco 585 LRE customer premises equipment (CPE). Migration Guide

Figure 1 displays Cisco IOS 12.0(5)WC4 release functionality relative to the 12.0 and 12.0T releases. This diagram identifies the recommended migration path for the Cisco Catalyst 2900 Series LRE XL switches only. LRE customers should upgrade from 12.0(5)WC2 directly to 12.0(5)WC4.

New Features in Cisco IOS Release 12.0(5)WC4

This is an Early Deployment release for the following platform: Cisco Catalyst 2900 LRE XL. Please note that this release is not intended for Cisco Catalyst 2900 XL and 3500 XL. The following features will be delivered in the initial release of 12.0(5)WC4 and incorporate all new features added from 12.0(5)WC2.

New features include the following:

• Support for the new Cisco 585 LRE CPE
  
  
• Enhanced Web-based switch management (Cisco Cluster Management Suite [CMS])
  
  
• Media Access Control (MAC) address notification
  
  
• Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) filtering
