Cisco IOS Software Early Deployment
 Release 12.2(11)YX1

This product bulletin describes content and delivery information pertaining to Cisco IOS^® Software Release 12.2(11)YX1 for the Cisco^® 7200 Series router. This release is an early-deployment release that supports Cisco 7200 Series routers, and adds supporting functionality to the existing IPsec VPN high-availability feature set.

New Features in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(11)YX1

Many enterprises are augmenting or replacing their traditional WANs with site-to-site VPNs to deliver around-the-clock connectivity. This requires that VPN devices deliver high network availability, as business success increasingly relies on the network. IPsec stateful failover helps ensure maximum network uptime for critical services such as client/server applications or voice/video over a VPN. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(11)YX1 adds support for generic routing encapsulation (GRE), allowing routing updates between sites on an IPsec VPN. GRE also provides support for multicast traffic, which is critical for Voice and Video Enabled VPN (V³PN) applications.
