Q. How can I safely migrate a RAID array to another storage device?

A. If you are migrating a RAID array from the NSS to another network NSS, ensure that you coldplug the RAID array to the new system. Coldplugging is often taken to mean the opposite of Hotplugging. It is the inability to add or remove hardware without powering the system down. To safely migrate a RAID array to another storage device, coldplug the devices by following these steps:

1. Power down the NSS where the RAID array is connected.
2. Remove each of the disk drives that make up the RAID array to be transferred.
3. Power down the NSS where the RAID array will be transferred.
4. Insert each of the disk drives in the RAID array to the new NSS.

   Note: You can install the drives to the new NSS in any order (you do not need to install them in the same order or slots that they were installed in the original NSS).

5. When all the disk drives are installed, power up the NSS.
