Q. How many days does ProtectLink Gateway Email Protection hold emails when the receiving mail server is down?
A.ProtectLink Gateway Email Protection does not store or archive emails by default. All messages are processed and immediately passed through to the customer's message transfer agent (MTA), except when the receiving mail server becomes unavailable.
When the receiving mail server is down, ProtectLink Gateway will maintain messages in our data center for up to five (5) days, and then subsequently delete them.
ProtectLink Gateway continues to scan and process emails in the event of downstream disaster recovery, with valid emails stored for up to five days depending on volume. Once the local email servers become available, mail is delivered with intelligent flow control to avoid unnecessary flooding of downstream resources.
