Product Bulletin No. 2317
End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement
for the Cisco Integrated Services Adapter
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® Integrated Services Adapter (ISA). The last day to order the Cisco ISA is April 15, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until April 15, 2009. The last Cisco IOS® Software release supported with the Cisco ISA will be 12.4 Mainline. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and key dates. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco VPN Acceleration Module 2 (VAM2). The Cisco VAM2 for Cisco 7200 Series and 7301 routers provides high-performance encryption/compression and key generation services for IP security (IPsec) VPN applications. The Cisco VAM2 supports Data Encryption Standard (DES), Triple DES (3DES), and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) at up to 260 Mbps (up to 370 Mbps on the Cisco 7301) as well as hardware-assisted Layer 3 compression services, conserving bandwidth and lowering network connection costs over secured links. The VAM2 supports up to 5000 simultaneous tunnels. For higher IPsec performance requirements, Cisco 7200 Series routers with the NPE-G1 processor support dual Cisco VAM2s for increased encryption throughput.

Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco ISA is the VAM2; however, for Cisco IOS E release requirements or Cisco IOS release support prior to 12.3(1) Mainline, the recommended migration path is the Cisco VPN Acceleration Module (VAM). The Cisco VAM for Cisco 7200 Series routers provides high-performance encryption/compression and key generation services for IPsec VPN applications. The Cisco VAM supports DES and 3DES at up to 140 Mbps as well as hardware-assisted Layer 3 compression services.
Information about Cisco VAM can be found at:
