Deployment Release 12.2(8)JAThis product bulletin describes the content and delivery information concerning Cisco IOS® Software early deployment Release 12.2(8)JA supporting Cisco® Aironet® 1100 Series Access Points and applicable Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points. This release contains new features as well as all of the features delivered in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(4)JA described in Product Bulletin No. 1925.
Cisco Aironet Software Release 12.2(8)JA delivers exciting new wireless LAN deployment options with the introduction of support for Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points. The Aironet 1200 Series offers the choice of IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, or simultaneous IEEE 802.11a/b operation.
Network security is enhanced with the support of Terminal Access Controller Access Control System Plus (TACACS+), a security application that provides centralized validation of users attempting to gain access to the access point.
These Cisco IOS Software features are available as a free software upgrade for Cisco Aironet 1200 and 1100 Series access points. Figure 1 displays the Cisco IOS Release 12.2(8)JA release train and recommended migration path.

The following new features listed in Table 1 are delivered in early deployment Release 12.2(8)JA. These new features are supported in this release with continued support for the features introduced in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(4)JA.

Support For Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)JA can be loaded on to Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points that are configured at the factory for Cisco IOS Software.
Support for TACACS+
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)JA supports TACACS, which is a security application that provides centralized validation of users attempting to gain access to the access point. A TACACS+ server must be configured before configuring TACACS+ features on the access point.
