Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1(20)EU. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(20)EU is derived from Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(20)EW. It adds support for the
Cisco uMG9850 QAM Module, and is strictly for use by cable operators deploying video-on-demand services on a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) access network.

Introduction

This product bulletin lists the hardware and software features that are supported in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(20)EU for the Cisco uMG9850 QAM Module. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(20)EU is supported by the Cisco® Catalyst® 4500 Series Supervisor Engine IV only. It is not supported on the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Supervisor Engines II-Plus or III, the Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series Supervisor Engine I or II, or any other Cisco switching or routing platforms.

New Software Features

• MPEG-2 digital video gateway (with Cisco uMG9850 QAM Module)

• Enhanced Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Management Information Base (MIB) support

MPEG-2 Digital Video Gateway

This release includes support for receiving MPEG-2 digital video streams encapsulated in UDP/IP from video-on-demand servers and routing the streams to the appropriate QAM module. The QAM module processes, modulates, and upconverts the streams to the desired frequency for transmission on a HFC access network to digital set-top boxes.

Enhanced SNMP MIB Support

An additional SNMP MIB supported in this release is CISCO-VIDEO-NETWORK-MIB.
