Cisco PS5030 12-Input MPEG-2
Demultiplexer, Cisco PS5034 4-Input
MPEG-2 Demultiplexer, and Cisco PS5038
8-Input MPEG-2 DemultiplexerCisco Video Networking Systems are the ultimate solution for customers who need to distribute reliable, high-quality video services over a digital broadband network.
The Cisco PS5030 12-Input MPEG-2 Demultiplexer, PS5034 4-Input MPEG-2 Demultiplexer, and PS5038 8-Input MPEG-2 Demultiplexer are part of the Cisco VN 5900 and VN 5902 Video Networking Systems-high-performance video head-end solutions that receive audio and video streams from any satellite, terrestrial, or wireless source. The Cisco VN 5900 and VN 5902 Video Networking Systems perform a wide range of video processing and adapt the streams to any standards-based digital broadband network.
The Cisco PS5030, PS5034, and PS5038 Demultiplexers receive MPEG-2 transport streams and demultiplex single Multiprogram Transport Streams (MPTS) into multiple Single-program Transport Streams (SPTS). The demultiplexers then send the processed MPEG-2 transport streams to a system network adaptation interface for retransmission over any Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), IP, or IP over ATM network.
The Cisco PS5030 Demultiplexer can receive up to 12 input sources, including transport streams sent directly from an input/output module, or MPEG-processed streams from other modules within the Cisco VN 5900 or 5902 Systems, such as the Cisco PS5171 QPSK Receiver/Demodulator. Similarly, the Cisco PS5034 Demultiplexer receives up to four input sources, and the Cisco PS5038 Demultiplexer receives up to eight input sources.
The Cisco PS5030, PS5034, and PS5038 Demultiplexers work in conjunction with audio and video input modules. For example, the Cisco PS5138 8- Digital Video Broadcast/Access Server Integration (DVB/ASI) Input, 1-DVB/ASI Output module provides its paired demultiplexer with 8 DVB/ASI inputs and 1 DVB/ASI output. This input/output module is designed to work in conjunction with any of the Cisco PS5030, PS5034, and PS5038 Demultiplexers. The Cisco PS5031 Input/Output Expander acts as a data-router, receiving data from a source, such as the system midplane, and transferring it to another system module or a network adaptation interface.
Table 1 is a summary of the Cisco PS5030, PS5034, and PS5038 Demultiplexer features and benefits.
