Catalyst 4840G Description
The Catalyst 4840G performs server load balancing and firewall and multiple firewall load balancing. It runs dispatch and directed mode load balancing with weighted round robin and weighted least connections algorithms. Sticky connections, HTTP redirection, and buddy groups can be configured. Forty servers can be directly connected or up to 1024 servers can be indirectly connected via Fast Ethernet ports. Clients connect through Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet ports. Server availability can be monitored with HTTP probes, Ping probes, or Dynamic Feedback Protocol (DFP). Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Domain Name System (DNS), Hypertext Transfer Protocol-Server (HTTP-S), and other protocols are supported. The Catalyst 4840G provides Layer 3 routing and Layer 2 bridging.

Description
WS-X6066-SLB-APC
The Content Switching Module is a high-performance Layer 4 and Layer 7 server load balancing module for the Catalyst 6500 series. It allows full regular expression pattern matching to define URLs and cookies. It always operates in directed mode (server network address translation [NAT]), with optional client NAT. It supports many different server load balancing algorithms: Round Robin, Weighted Round Robin, Least Active Connections, Weighted Least Active Connections, client IP hash (with subnet), and connection watermarks. Client connections can be sent to the same real server by several methods: source IP, source IP subnet, cookie, SSL ID, or HTTP Redirect. TCP and UDP protocols are supported.
