End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco 10720 Router 24-Port Fast Ethernet Multimode and Single-Mode FX Interface Modules
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® 10720 Router 24-Port Fast Ethernet Multimode and Single-Mode FX interface modules with the part numbers listed in Table 2. The last day to order the end-of-life Cisco cards is October 30, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until October 30, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the end-of-life Cisco cards.
No direct replacement exists for these cards. Another Ethernet module available for the Cisco 10720 Router is the Gigabit Ethernet/Fast Ethernet TX module with the part number shown in Table 3. The Gigabit Ethernet ports on this card can be used in applications requiring Ethernet connectivity over fiber for longer distances. The Gigabit Ethernet ports support Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics with reach up to 70 kilometers.

An alternative to the end-of-life Cisco cards is the Cisco 10720 Router Gigabit Ethernet/Fast Ethernet TX module, as shown in Table 3.
