Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-life of the Cisco® ONS 15454 Stargazer 1700 LAN Modem (Stargazer Modem). The last day to order the Cisco Stargazer Modem is September 1, 2003. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until September 1, 2008. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco Stargazer Modem
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 1721 Series Modular Access Router, which provides the same dial-up access capabilities leveraging Cisco's IOS. Information about this product can be found at: http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps221/ps224/index.html. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco Stargazer LAN Modem to the Cisco 1721 Series Modular Access Router.

The recommended replacement for the Cisco Stargazer LAN Modem is the Cisco 1700 Series Modular Access Router (Table 3). The Cisco 1700, configured with the analog modem option, enables remote dial-up client access over a standard telephone line to the Cisco ONS 15454.
