End-of-Life Announcement
for Cisco MGX-FRSM-HS1/B and MGX-FRSM-HS2
Front Cards, and MGX-12IN1-4S Back Card
Cisco Systems is announcing the end of sale and end of life for the following Cisco MGX® switch hardware: front cards with part numbers MGX-FRSM-HS1/B and MGX-FRSM-HS2, and back card with part number MGX-12IN1-4S. The announcement is effective January 27, 2003. Cisco customers may continue to receive hardware and software support for a longer period as set forth in the milestones and timelines in Table 1.
Replacement products are the Cisco front card with part number MGX-FRSM-HS2/B and back card with part number MGX-12IN1-8S. These replacement cards operate in the following platforms: Cisco MGX 8230, MGX 8250, and MGX 8850 PXM-1, MGX 8850 and 8830 PXM-1E. The replacement front card is capable of providing both V.35 and HSSI interfaces from the same front card, thereby streamlining customer operations.
Note: Cisco MGX switch software release 1.3.xx is the last release that will support the FRSM cards listed in Table 2.
The milestones, their definitions, and effective end-of-life dates for the Cisco MGX hardware are listed in Table 1.

This includes processing RMA orders for components with this system configuration; it is also the date that the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) will no longer have any obligation to assist customers with any issues related to this software. Any assistance rendered by Cisco will be on an as-available basis without warranties at the sole discretion of Cisco Systems.

Table 2 lists the Cisco cards with part numbers MGX-FRSM-HS1/B, MGX-12IN1-4S, and MGX-FRSM-HS2, which are affected by this end-of-life announcement. Table 2 also lists their replacement cards by part number.

Ordering Information
July 28, 2003 will be the last date to enter orders for the Cisco cards with part numbers MGX-FRSM-HS1/B, MGX-12IN1-4S, and MGX-FRSM-HS2. August 27, 2003 will be the latest requested ship date for these cards. Support for the hardware will be provided according to the effective dates stated in Table 1. The replacement product is the front card with part number MGX-FRSM-HS2/B and back cards with part numbers MGX-12IN1-8S MGX-SCSI2-2HSSI/B. Note that the front cards with part numbers MGX-FRSM-HS2/B and MGX-12IN1-8S MGX-SCSI2-2HSSI/B are not interchangeable with the cards with part numbers MGX-FRSM-HS1/B, MGX-FRSM-HS2, and MGX-12IN1-4S. The Cisco Technology Migration Program is not offered to upgrade these cards. Customers should contact their account managers to upgrade these cards.
