End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for Timing Communication and Control Plus (TCC+) Card for the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platform
Cisco Systems announces the end of life of the TCC+ processor card for the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP). The last day to order the Cisco TCC+ processor card is October 1, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until October 1, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco TCC+ card. Table 2 outlines the Cisco product names impacted by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco ONS 15454 Timing, Communications and Control—version 2 (15454-TCC2) card, providing enhanced Cisco ONS 15454 MSPP system performance with increased processor speed, improved network aggregation capability, integrated node voltage monitoring, and improved software download speeds. Information about this new product can be found at:
http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/optical/ps2006/products_data_sheets_list.html
Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco TCC+ processor card to the TCC2 processor card.
Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco TCC+ card is the TCC2 card (Table 3). The TCC2 provides enhanced ONS 15454 MSPP system performance with increased processor speed, improved network aggregation capability, integrated node voltage monitoring, and improved software download speeds, at a cost point equivalent to the TCC+ card.
In-service processor upgrades are supported from the TCC+ card to the TCC2 card using either Release 4.0.x or 4.1.x as a transition software load. For installed systems operating on the original model TCC card, the required upgrade steps will be 1) transition from TCC card to TCC+ card using a 2.2.x or 2.3.x software release as a transition load then 2) transition from TCC+ card to TCC2 card using a 4.0.x or 4.1.x software release as the transition load. Processor upgrade procedures will be included in the Cisco ONS 15454 R4.0.0 user documentation, available at first customer shipment.
