End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Access Gateway Module
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® Catalyst® 4500 Access Gateway Module (AGM) and associated components, spares, and bundles (part numbers WS-X4604-xxx, WS-U4604-xxx, etc.). The last day to order the AGM is September 1, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until September 1, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the AGM. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to one of the following platforms:

The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches for WAN routing, telephony, and high-density switching support. Virtually all the capabilities of the AGM, plus a wide range of additional services are supported by the Catalyst6500 Series. Information about this product line can be found at:

The recommended replacement for an integrated switch/router/voice gateway is the Cisco 6500 Series Switch (i.e.,Catalyst 4500 Switch + AGM—Catalyst 6500 Switch + FlexWAN Module + Communications Media Module).
The recommended replacement for the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Access Gateway Module is the Cisco 3700 Series Router(i.e., Catalyst 4500 Switch + AGM—Catalyst 4500 Switch + Cisco 3700 Router)
