Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series IDSM-1 is the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series IDSM-2 (Table 3). The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series IDSM-2 is a 600 Mbps IDS module for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switch. It supports Cisco IDS Sensor Software Version 4.0, the same as the IDS appliances, and provides identical signature support with the appliances as well. In addition, improved management techniques are included and offered with the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series IDSM-2.
Customers may also migrate to the Cisco IDS appliance if more performance is desired. The Cisco IDS 4250-XL Sensor provides up to 1 gigabit of IDS attack protection and uses the same software base as the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series IDSM-2.
