Cisco ASA 5585-X I/O Modules provide high interface-density to mission-critical data centers that require exceptional flexibility and security. With two 8-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules and one Security Services Processor (SSP)-40 or SSP-60 module, Cisco ASA 5585-X can support up to 20 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports in 2 rack unit (2RU) chassis. With two 20-port 1 Gigabit Ethernet modules and one SSP module, Cisco ASA 5585-X can support up to 50 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports in 2RU chassis.
The I/O modules go into the top slot of the Cisco ASA 5585-X chassis. The Cisco ASA 5585-X Divider divides the top slot into two half-slots, and each I/O module occupies one half-slot. All the ports on the 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules are dual Small Form-Factor Pluggable or Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus (SFP/SFP+) ports that support both 1 Gigabit Ethernet SFPs and 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ modules. The 1 Gigabit Ethernet module supports 8 10/100/1000 Base-T ports and 12 SFP ports for high-fiber density. Table 1 describes the different Cisco ASA 5585-X I/O Modules available.

When only one I/O module is installed in the top slot of the ASA 5585-X chassis, a half-slot blank cover is required to cover the empty half-slot. Minimum software required is Cisco ASA Software Version 8.4.4.
The Cisco ASA 5585-X IO modules are orderable and shipping.
Table 2 lists the 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ and 1 Gigabit Ethernet SFPs that are supported.
