Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(54)SE for Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series Switches and Cisco ME 3400 and ME 3400E Series Ethernet Access Switches
Cisco announces Cisco IOS® Software updates for Cisco Catalyst® 3750 Metro Series Switches and Cisco® ME 3400 and ME 3400E Series Ethernet Access Switches. This release advances Cisco's leadership role by providing enhanced operations, administration, and maintenance (OAM) capabilities and standard-based IEEE 802.1ad Provider Bridges for Metro Ethernet deployments.

New Features
The following new features are available with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(54)SE for Metro Ethernet switches:
• IEEE 802.1ad Provider Bridges: Release 12.2(54)SE supports standard-compliant implementation of Layer 2 VLAN stacking and Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP), including the definition of C-UNI and S-UNI as per the standard. These standards give the Catalyst 3750 Metro Series and Cisco ME 3400E Series additional interoperability capabilities.
• The 802.1ap MIB: Provides MIB definition for VLAN provider bridges on Catalyst 3750 Metro Series and Cisco ME 3400 and ME 3400E Series. The 802.1ap MIB includes the object definition for 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management (CFM).
• CFM support on customer VLAN: Allows service providers to enable CFM Maintenance End Points (MEPs) and Maintenance Intermediate Points (MIPs) on customer VLAN, giving the VPN customer additional 802.1ag CFM capabilities. This support is available on the Catalyst 3750 Metro Series and Cisco ME 3400E Series.

Cisco ME 3400E Series Switches and Software Images
Because of export restrictions on strong cryptography software, a separate image is required for the cryptographic features (Secure Shell [SSH] Protocol, Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 [SNMPv3], and Kerberos Protocol). These software images can be downloaded from the corresponding Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) area of the links provided in this section. Note that the Cisco Advanced IP Services license is available only in cryptographic format.
