Product Bulletin No. 3507
The Cisco® 1812W Integrated Services Router (Cisco 1812W) is a fixed integrated services router that provides Ethernet access through two 10/100BASE-T Fast Ethernet WAN ports, integrated WAN backup through an ISDN S/T Basic Rate Interface (BRI), and integrated dual-band 802.11a/b/g wireless access point functions. Cisco Systems® part number 1812W-P replaces the existing Cisco part number 1812W-J for Japan starting with Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.4(6)T2 because of frequency changes in the 5-GHz band. This product bulletin provides content and delivery information specific to wireless features for the Cisco 1812 (1812W-P) and Cisco IOS Software Release 12.4(6)T2.

DETAILED INFORMATION
New Features
• W52 and W53-W52 and W53 are Japan's new frequency bands, implemented because of regulation changes for the 5-GHz band. The W52 frequency consists of channels 5180, 5200, 5220, and 5240 MHz. The W53 frequency consists of channels 5250 to 5350 MHz and is for indoor use only.
• DFS and TPC-These features are part of the 802.11h specification. DFS is used to detect radar signals such as military and weather sources and switch channels on the access points. TPC is used by access points to relay transmit power information to wireless client devices. Client devices use the TPC information in conjunction with the access point signal strength to calculate path loss and the transmit power necessary for the client to reach the access point. TPC extends client device battery life.
