Default Memory Increases for Select Cisco 1800 Series Integrated Services Router Fixed-Configuration Models
Effective December 18, 2008, the default DRAM of Cisco® 1800 Series Integrated Services Router fixed-configuration models increases to 256 MB and the flash memory increases to 64 MB. The Cisco 1800 Series fixed-configuration router list price will remain the same.
The Cisco 1800 Series Integrated Services Routers intelligently embed data, security, and wireless technology into a single, resilient system for fast, secure, scalable delivery of mission-critical business applications for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), enterprise branch offices, and service provider-managed services applications for delivery of concurrent services at wire-speed performance.
Additional DRAM and flash memory are being added to ensure the Cisco 1800 Series fixed-configuration routers can support new versions of Cisco IOS® Software for select models (refer to Table 1). The memory enhancements to the routers will allow customers, resellers, and service providers to benefit from the greater capabilities that Cisco IOS Software offers today and in the future. Investment protection is also increased because the risk of complete system upgrades is negated.
The introduction of images in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.4(20)T requires more DRAM and flash memory on Cisco 1800 Series fixed-configuration routers with Advanced IP Services and Advanced Enterprise service images. Additional memory on these platforms provides a more cost-effective migration path for future services.
Customers who have 32-MB flash and 128-MB DRAM memory should remain on Cisco IOS Software Release 12.4(15)T. These customers will continue to receive bug fixes and Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) updates through Release 12.4(15)T, the designated release for longer-term support.
