This product bulletin describes the content and delivery information for Cisco® IOS® Software Release 12.3(8)YG. It should be used in conjunction with the Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3T product bulletin. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)YG is a short-lived, early deployment release that will migrate in the first release of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.4T. It supports the Cisco 830 Series routers (Cisco 831, Cisco 836, Cisco 837), Cisco SOHO90 Series routers (SOHO91, SOHO96, SOHO97), 1700 Series routers (Cisco 1701, Cisco 1711, Cisco 1712, Cisco 1721, Cisco 1751, Cisco 1751-V, and Cisco 1760), and Cisco 1800 Series (Cisco 1841).
In addition to the supported features described in this product bulletin, additional information is available in the release notes for Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)YG.
Note: This product bulletin only lists features which are new to the respective routers.
Customers should be prepared to upgrade using the migration path described in Figure 1.
Due to new developments in the DSLAM market regarding DSLAMs with Gigabit backhaul instead of the more traditional ATM backhaul, PPPoA and RFC1483 routed encapsulation normally used for higher end DSL services are no longer an option (unless in the rare case where termination of these services are supported in the DSLAM). Routing with bridged encapsulation allows the router to transmit and receive bridge encapsulated RFC1483 frames and route them to and from the internal network while allowing for QoS features to be applied as supported by the IOS feature sets.
Support of the DMZ Ethernet port as backup interface, supporting Static address, DHCP client or PPPoE client. Ethernet 2 interface can be enabled on Cisco 830 series and as such port 4 on the switch will be the physical representation of this port.
WIC-1SHDSL-V2 on Cisco 1841

The WIC-1SHDSL-V2 interface card is supported on the Cisco 1721, 1751 and Cisco 1760 modular access routers since the 12.3(4)XG release which migrated into the 5fth release of 12.3T (i.e. 12.3(11)T). With this 12.3(8)YG release, the WIC-1SHDSL-V2 is now also supported on the Cisco 1841 integrated services router.
