Cisco Video Surveillance Manager

End-to-End Medianet Management for Secure Scalable Video Surveillance—Starter Kit

The End-to-End Medianet Management for Secure Scalable Video Surveillance Starter Kit is a fully integrated solution that contains components of the Cisco® Video Surveillance Manager system and LiveAction application-aware network performance management with Quality of Service (QoS) control software. This joint solution enables customers to gain unprecedented visibility to video surveillance network components and quickly respond to performance issues, thus restoring video quality and improving security responses.

Building on Medianet Performance Monitor, Mediatrace, and IP SLA Voice Operations (VO), and integrating with Cisco Video Surveillance Manager, LiveAction provides the following management functions:

Visualization: End-to-end monitoring, troubleshooting, and mitigation of video surveillance performance issues

QoS Control: Full graphical QoS Configurator for video performance problem resolution

Pre-Deployment Assessment: GUI-based IP SLA VO for network readiness of video services

Scalability: Scale to hundreds, thousands, or millions of cameras

A typical scenario enables a security officer at a client workstation, looking at millions of video surveillance streams, to detect a quality issue and call the IT Help Desk. The Help Desk, through LiveAction simple interface and visualization, is able to troubleshoot and fix the issue quickly and efficiently. This results in richer user experiences, increased productivity, cost savings, and most importantly preserved security information.
The solution components are shown in Figure 1 below:

This solution offers the following benefits to customers:

• Scale to hundreds, thousands, or millions of devices

• Streamline deployments of new cameras

• Simplify troubleshooting with end-to-end visualization of video flows and on-demand Mediatrace of Medianet-enabled cameras to Media Servers

• Quickly fix video performance issues with GUI-based QoS control features hiding the command line interface (CLI)

• Perform pre-deployment capacity assessment and planning
