END-OF-SALE AND END-OF-LIFE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE CISCO 15600-R1 [Cisco ONS 15600 Series]

PRODUCT BULLETIN NO. 2486

Cisco Systems announces the end of life of the Cisco 15600-R1.3.0SWCD, 15600-LIC-R1.3.0, and SF15600-R1.3.0. The last day to order the Cisco 15600-R1.3.0SWCD, 15600-LIC-R1.3.0, and SF15600- R1.3.0 is Dec 1, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until Dec 1, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco 15600-R1.3.0SWCD, 15600-LIC-R1.3.0, and SF15600-R1.3.0.

Customers are encouraged to migrate to the 15600-R1.3.1SWCD, 15600-LIC-R1.3.1, and SF15600-R1.3.1 respectively, which is the next release of software for the ONS 15600. End of service contract renewal date	The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.	September 1, 2009

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS

The recommended replacement for the Cisco 15600-R1.3.0SWCD, 15600-LIC-R1.3.0, and SF15600-R1.3.0 is the 1560015600-R1.3.1SWCD, 15600-LIC-R1.3.1, and SF15600-R1.3.1 (Table 3). There is only one migration plan for existing Release 1.3.0 customers, upgrading to R1.3.1 software. The recommended replacement for the Cisco 15600-R1.3.0SWCD is the 15600-LIC-UPG (Table 3). The 15600-LIC-UPG is the next available release of software R1.3.1 for the ONS 15600. Added to this release is full support of R1.3.1 including FR and PSIRT fixes and full interoperability with the ONS 15454 R4.0.2. The 15600-FTA2 will be the only hardware introduced with R1.3.1. The 15600-FTA2 is a new NEBS 3 certified Fan Tray assembly which replaces the 15600-FTA. The 15600-FTA EOL was announced in Product Bulletin 2404.
