Cisco® Multicast Manager 2.4 introduces several new features that will help customers manage, monitor, and troubleshoot multicast-enabled networks. The video operations solution (VOS) provides monitoring support for video probes to proactively detect poor quality video that is being transported across an IP multicast infrastructure. The Multicast VPN (MVPN) feature gives customers the ability to manage their Virtual Route Forwarding (VRF) tables by monitoring the provider edge routers along with providing on-demand views of the MVPN environment by provider edge router or VRF table.
New Features
New features include:
• Video operations solution: Provides monitoring support for video probes to proactively detect poor quality video by means of the Media Delivery Index (MDI) as defined in RFC 4445
• Enhanced address management database: Provides an indication of which video channels are being affected when problems with specific multicast groups are detected
• Multicast virtual private networks: Provides proactive monitoring and diagnostics for MVPNs
• Additional licensing options: Allows customers with small or medium-sized networks to purchase scaled-down versions of Cisco Multicast Manager based on the number of devices
• Support for using one-time passwords with TACACS
• Support for the Cisco Carrier Routing System (CRS) platform
