Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2

PB658791

Product Overview

Cisco® Multicast Manager 3.2 simplifies discovery, visualization, monitoring, management, and troubleshooting of multicast networks to help ensure the availability of mission-critical services delivered over multicast. The Video Operations Solution (VOS) add-on feature provides monitoring support for video probes to proactively detect poor quality video that is being transported across an IP multicast infrastructure. The Multicast VPN (MVPN) add-on feature gives customers the ability to manage their Virtual Route Forwarding (VRF) tables by monitoring the service provider edge routers along with presenting on-demand views of the MVPN environment by provider edge router or VRF table.
Cisco Multicast Manager is also part of the Cisco Video Assurance Management Solution (VAMS), which provides a flexible end-to-end assurance management platform for video.

New Features

New features in version 3.2 include:

Show Layer 2 Switches in Forwarding the Tree: Show Layer 2 switches in the forward trace in addition to the existing display of routers and video probes. In addition, Cisco Multicast Manageralso supports the ability to autodiscover Layer 2 devices as part of the multicast discovery process.

Show Layer 2 Multicast Receivers in the Forwarding Tree: Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 displays multicast receiver information when you click on devices on the Multicast Trace page. This feature is supported for 7600 and 6500 class devices.

Automatic Layer 2 Device Discovery: You can configure Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 to automatically discover Layer 2 devices during domain discovery.

Unicast Flow Trace for VidMon Devices: You can now launch a unicast flow trace from the VidMon flow monitoring page. The unicast trace includes the devices that were discovered in the domain.

IP Unnumbered Topology: Provides the ability to handle cases where a customer is using IP unnumbered interfaces to carry multicast traffic.

Flexible device access for Telnet and SSH: Improves device access by adding the ability for the user to select both Telnet and Secure Shell (SSH) Protocol access for devices in the domain. SSHv1 and SSHv2 are supported.

Support for point-to-point (P2P) and point-to-multipoint traffic engineering (P2MP TE) Links: Cisco Multicast Manager now supports the ability to run a complete multicast trace from a source customer network, through a PM2MP TE tunnel to the destination customer network or networks. Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 provides a new Distributed Network Discovery/P2MP option to discover devices over P2MP TE tunnels.

Support for 3750 and 4500 Switches: Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 adds support for Cisco Catalyst® 3750 Series Switches and Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Switches.

Enhanced VidMon Support: Cisco Multicast Manager receives traps from various routers and video probes. Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 also supports polling for specific data when cfmNotifyAlarm traps are received from VidMon devices and uses the collected information to generate the necessary metrics.

Cisco DCM Support: Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 adds support for the Cisco Digital Content Manager (DCM).

Displaying Date and Time of Last Successful Login: Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 displays to users their last current login time.

Password Aging: Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 enforces password changes every 90 days. Users are prompted to change their password.

Support for VMware ESXi 4.x: Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2 supports VMware ESXi 4.x environments.

Trace Using Management IP Address: In some service provider environments, access to the Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) interface may be blocked, which affects Cisco Multicast Manager traces. With Cisco Multicast Manager 3.2, you can configure multicast flow trace based on either the PIM neighbor address of a device or the management IP address.

Source Group (SG) Configuration using Range: Provides users the ability to add SG polling entries by specifying an IP range.
