Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® Catalyst® Inline Power Patch Panel. The last day to order the affected product is May 25, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until May 25, 2011.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to one of our Cisco Technology Developer Partner Program members, PowerDsine, and their PowerDsine 6548 or PowerDsine 6024G, both of which provide support for the new IEEE 802.3af and Cisco prestandard power schemes. Information about the replacement product can be found at: http://www.powerdsine.com. Tables 3 and 4 provide the relevant information for migrating to the replacement products.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
For customers who have Ethernet switches without in-line Power over Ethernet (PoE), several replacement options are recommended. The customers can use Power Cube 3 used (available from Cisco) or purchase a closet line power supply from PowerDsine.
The recommended replacements for the Cisco Catalyst Inline Power Patch Panel are produced by one our Cisco Technology Developer Partner Program members, PowerDsine, and its PowerDsine 6548 or PowerDsine 6024G (Tables 3 and 4). As another option, the Cisco IP Phone Power Cube 3 can also be used by plugging into a commercial power outlet located near the IP phone. However, the Cisco IP Phone Power Cube 3 can power only one IP phone. The PowerDsine 6548 provides 48 ports of IEEE 802.3af or Cisco prestandard power for powering up to 48 each 10/100BASE-T IP phones. The PowerDsine 6024 provides 24 ports of IEEE 802.3af power for powering up to 24 10/100/1000BASE-T IP phones.

Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco equipment. For more information, visit http://www.cisco.com/go/tradein/. The Cisco TMP application requires a Cisco.com user ID to log on.
Customers may be able to continue to purchase the end-of-sale product through the Cisco Authorized Refurbished Equipment program.
