Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(18)SXF for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series. The last day to order the affected product(s) is February 27, 2010. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected WAN interface product(s). Table 2 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for all other hardware products supported on IOS 12.2(18)SXF. Table 3 lists the IOS 12.2(18)SXF software product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if that date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1 and Table 2.
Under Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2SX release strategy, after a "new technology" release becomes available on a major release, bug fixes will generally not be applied to previous new technology releases. Refer to "Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(33)SX" for more information. In order to get comprehensive bug fixes, customers should move to the latest new technology release. For example, for Cisco IOS Software Major Release 12.2SX, a move from Release 12.2(18)SXF to Release 12.2(33)SXH or 12.2(33)SXI is required after August 2009 in order to get bug fixes through rebuilds.
