Cisco® announces Cisco IOS® Software updates for Cisco Catalyst® 3750 Metro, Cisco ME 3400 and 2400 Series Ethernet Access Switches. This new release provides enhancements on the Metro Ethernet access switches.

This product bulletin contains content and delivery information for Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(35)SE1.
The following new features are available with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(35)SE1 for Metro Ethernet switches:

• Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) on trunk port-MVR allows a subscriber on a port to subscribe to and unsubscribe from a multicast stream on the network-wide multicast VLAN. It allows the single multicast VLAN to be shared in the network while subscribers remain in separate VLANs. This new enhancement allows MVR receiver ports to be trunk ports.

• 802.3ah Ethernet OAM-802.3ah Link Layer OAM is an IEEE Ethernet OAM standard for physical connectivity check. 802.3ah at the provider edge covers the OAM frames used across a physical IEEE 802.3 medium between a provider and a customer, between two provider ports, or even potentially between two customer ports.

• Hierarchical QoS on EtherChannel®-Allows hierarchical QoS to be applied to a port that belongs to an EtherChannel port.

Table 1 describes product support for new features of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(35)SE1 for Metro Ethernet switches.
