Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco IOS® Software Major Release 12.2. This announcement applies to all releases of Major Release 12.2, but does not apply to the 12.2S family. The last day to order the affected product is March 19, 2006. Maintenance rebuilds and software fixes will no longer be available via Release 12.2 as of March 19, 2007. Software defects found in this release are addressed by migrating to Cisco IOS Software Major Release 12.3, 12.4, or later. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until March 19, 2011.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
Customers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco IOS Software Major Release 12.4, which inherits Cisco IOS Major Release 12.2 functionality, new functionality introduced in Releases 12.2T and 12.3T, and additional fixes. Customers requiring GD certified releases should migrate to Major Release 12.3 which is currently undergoing GD qualification. When upgrading to a more recent release, certain software images may not be available, hardware may or may not be supported, or memory requirements may have changed. Always consult the Cisco IOS Software Upgrade Planner and Cisco Feature Navigator to verify critical functionality on required platforms.
