Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® WAE-511 Wide Area Application Engine and WAE-611 Wide Area Application Engine. The last day to order the affected product is June 1, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until June 1, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the new Cisco WAE-512 Wide Area Application Engine or the Cisco WAE-612 model, respectively. Based on the same hardware architecture as the previous generation, the new WAE appliances come with several enhanced hardware components, such as increased internal storage capacity and memory size, and increased performance for a similar price.
The new WAE models can use either Cisco ACNS Software Version 5.4.3 or Version 5.5.1 or higher, or Cisco WAFS Software Version 3.0.7 or higher, or Cisco WAAS Software Version 4.0.1 or higher to provide higher performance, more flexibility, enhanced scalability, and new features.
Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating to these replacement products.
OPTION TO PURCHASE THE WAE-511 AND WAE-611 AFTER JUNE 1, 2006:
After June 1, 2006, the Cisco WAE-511 and WAE-611 can be purchased for an additional three months up to September 1, 2006 via our selected channel distributor, Comstor UK in Europe for European destinations and Comstor US for non-European destinations.
