These release notes describe open caveats for the Cisco Wireless Control System Navigator 1.0.83.

The Cisco Wireless Control System Navigator is hereafter referred to as Cisco WCS Navigator.

Introduction

This release introduces the Cisco WCS Navigator, which delivers an aggregated platform for enhanced scalability, manageability, and visibility of large-scale implementations of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network. This software-based solution gives network administrators easy access to information from multiple geographically diverse Cisco WCS management platforms. It supports partitioning of the unified wireless network at the management level.

Cisco WCS Navigator Features

The Cisco WCS Navigator provides:

•Management of multiple Cisco WCSs

–Supports up to 20 Cisco WCS management platforms

–Management of up to 15,000 Cisco Aironet lightweight access points from a single management console

•A unified view of the network

•Overview and multilevel monitoring of wireless networks

•The ability to run reports for all WCSs

•Network-wide searches

•A link to return to the Navigator when directed to a regional WCS from Navigator

Requirements for Cisco WCS Navigator

Hardware Requirements for Navigator

The following server hardware and software is required to support Cisco WCS Navigator for Windows or Linux.

•Standard Server

–Supports up to 20 wireless control systems depending on the Navigator license.

–Requires a 3.2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor with 4-GB RAM and 80-GB hard drive.

–Requires 40-GB minimum of free disk space on your hard drive.

Note The free disk space listed is a minimum requirement but may be different for your system depending on the number of backups.

Note The screen resolution should be set to 1024 x 768 pixels for Navigator.

Supported Operating Systems

The following operating systems are supported:

•Windows 2003/SP1 and SR2 with all critical and security Windows updates installed.

Note SP2 is not supported at this time.

---

•Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server 4.0 or Advanced Server 4.0. Only 32-bit operating system installations are supported. 64-bit operating system installations are not supported.

Note The Cisco WCS Navigator supports both Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0.

Caveats

Open Caveats

These caveats are open in Cisco WCS Navigator 1.0.83:

•CSCsi04593—There are problems with the graph on the Monitor -network summary.

Workaround: After a refresh, the graphs works fine.

•CSCsi04839—An irrelevant exception appears when searching for clients on Navigator.

Workaround: None at this time.

•CSCsi24635—When a WCS on Navigator becomes unreachable, a WCS alarm appears on the alarm dashboard. Clicking the alarm opens the Alarm Details page. Clicking the link to the events history produces an unknown exception.

Workaround: None at this time.

•CSCsi31663—Accessing the wireless control system pages from Navigator results in a prompt that http is not enabled and user must click in the designated link to access using https.

Workaround: Under Configure > WCS within the affected wireless control system, change the protocol to https.

•CSCsi35069—A user cannot access the wireless control system alarm details page in Navigator.

Workaround: None at this time.

•CSCsi35113—Deleting a configuration manager user on Navigator sometimes results in an unknown exception.

Workaround: None at this time.

•CSCsi35254—When a backup of Navigator is started directly from the server, there is no prompt to first stop the Navigator. This may cause the backup to run more slowly.

Workaround: To avoid this, stop Navigator prior to starting a backup.

•CSCsh55877—After installing navigator as a service, it has to be started manually by rebooting the server. The server does not start automatically. If installed as an application, the server must be started manually; a reboot is not required.

Workaround: None at this time.

Resolved Caveats

•CSCsh95702—When the Navigator has 19 WCSs with a 20 WCS license, adding the twentieth system produces the message: "Error(s): You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding: Error: Unable to add additional WCSs. You are currently at your licensed limit." The twentieth wireless control system is added despite the error message.
