Important Information

A valid Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) certificate is required to provide missed call and voicemail notification services to iPhone users of Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator clients that connect to Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage servers, when the client is not running.

The certificate included with Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage expired on September 2, 2010. Subsequent updated APNS certificates expire annually. To avoid interruption in notification services, you must replace the expired certificate with a new one.

You can also use the procedures in this document to replace the APNS certificate if you accidentally delete it from Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage.

Uploading the New Certificate to Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage

Procedure

Step 1 Use a browser other than Internet Explorer 8.0 for this procedure.

Step 2 Sign in to the Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage Admin Portal.

Step 3 Upload the APNS certificate:

a. Select Security Context Management > Security Contexts.

b. Select Add Context.

c. Enter values:

Setting	Value
Do you want to create / upload a new certificate?	Upload
Context Name	apns_expiresJul2012
Description	APNS Cert for iPhone - Expires Jul 26, 2012
Certificate Type	PKCS12
Trust Policy	All Certificates
Client Authentication Policy	None
Certificate	Navigate to and select the new certificate you downloaded.
Certificate Password	cisco12345 If your browser does not allow you to enter this password, try using a different browser for this procedure.

d. Select Submit.

Configuring Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage to Use the New Certificate

Procedure

Step 1 Go to System Management > APNS Configuration.

Step 2 Enter information:

Setting	Value
Enable APNS	True
APNS gateway IP address	gateway.push.apple.com (Do not change the default.)
APNS port	2195 (Do not change the default.)
Security Context	Choose the security context that holds the APNS certificate that you just uploaded.

Step 3 Select Submit.

Step 4 Restart the server.

Future Certificate Replacement

This replacement certificate expires on July 26, 2012. You may want to add a reminder to your calendar to check for a new replacement APNS certificate before this date.
