This document describes how to recover Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart. This document includes the following sections:
Prerequisites
To start the recovery process, make sure that you have:
•
Recovery kit—The Recovery kit has two DVDs. DVD 1 has the ESXi installable and DVD 2 has the Cisco Prime Network Registrar OVF (Open Virtualization Format). You can find both the local and regional OVFs in DVD 2.
•
Internet connectivity—Internet connectivity is required if you want to request Cisco Prime Network Registrar replacement licenses from Cisco.com. Ensure that you have the licenses with you before you start the recovery process.
Recovery Procedures
This section explains the following recovery procedures:

To recover Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart:
Step 1
Place your Recovery DVD 1 of 2 in your DVD-ROM drive on the UCS appliance and press the Reset button.
Step 2
When the Cisco logo appears, press F6 to enter the boot menu and choose the device, that is, the physical DVD drive (SATA5:HL-DT-STDVDRAM GT40N).
Step 3
Follow the on-screen instructions to install ESXi 4.1.
Step 4
After Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart shuts down, remove the DVD from the drive.
Step 5
Start Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart and configure ESXi 4.1. See the "Configuring Network Information for ESXi" procedure in the Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart 8.0 Getting Started Guide for more information.
Step 6
Using VMware vSphere, connect to the IP address or hostname of the UCS (ESXi) from Step 5.
Step 7
Insert DVD 2 into a drive that you have access from vSphere client.
Step 8
From the vSphere menu, choose File > Deploy OVF Template.
The Deploy OVF Template Source window appears.
Step 9
To deploy the OVF file, click Browse and choose the OVF file (.ovf) available in the drive. Choose the appropriate Local or Regional OVF in the corresponding subdirectory.
Complete the deployment following the on-screen instructions. See the "Deploying Cisco Prime Network Registrar Virtual Appliance" procedure in the Installation Guide for Cisco Prime Network Registrar 8.0 for details.
Note
You might want to resize the data disk before starting the virtual machine since the Recovery DVD has the standard OVFs. For details regarding increasing the disk size, see the "Increasing the Size of Disk" procedure in the "Introduction to Cisco Prime Network Registrar Virtual Appliance" chapter of the User Guide for Cisco Prime Network Registrar 8.0.
Step 10
Open console for 'NR-local-ucs' virtual machine and click the Power on button to power up the virtual machine. See the "Configuring Cisco Prime Network Registrar Virtual Appliance" procedure in the Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart 8.0 Getting Started Guide.
Step 11
Connect to Cisco Prime Network Registrar using http://. It prompts you to create an admin user and password for Cisco Prime Network Registrar.
Recovering the Licenses
You can now restore your original license or request a replacement license at http://www.cisco.com/go/license.
