Introduction

Cisco E-DI provides a comprehensive management interface to configure Cisco devices. Cisco E-DI interfaces with network devices through the command line interface (CLI) or through an Eclipse-based Graphical User Interface (GUI).

A Cisco CatOS to Cisco IOS conversion tool is provided in Cisco E-DI 2.2.1 to help Cisco Catalyst 6500 users migrate their CatOS devices to Cisco IOS. The tool is available in the CLI console and the GUI

Installation

For information on installing and setting up Cisco E-DI 2.2.1, see Installation and Setup Guide for Enhanced Device Interface 2.2.1 on Windows.

For all the other procedures, see User Guide for Cisco Enhanced Device Interface, 2.2.1 on Windows.

Incremental Device Updates

Incremental Device Updates (IDU)s allow Cisco E-DI to be updated with support for new device packages.

To add device packages from CDC, the Cisco E-DI administrator can login to CDC, specify the Cisco E-DI version, and download the files for the device packages. See http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/sw-netmgmt.shtml. Once the required device package files are downloaded, they can be copied to Cisco E-DI, and installed using the maintenance shell. See Installation and Setup Guide for Enhanced Device Interface 2.2.1 on Windows.

Table 1 Known Problems in E-DI 2.2.1

Bug ID
Summary
Explanation

CSCsg16993

The set banner command has been translated with a workaround

The workaround is that if the output needs to be in multiple line, the banner string needs to be enclosed within quotes ("). You need to provide"\n" where new line needs to be introduced.

Example
In the input source window:
set banner motd <c> "Cisco Systems \n 170 W Tasman Drive
\n San Jose CA 95134 " <c>

The output in the target window would be:
banner motd c Cisco Systems
170 W Tasman Drive
San Jose CA 95134 c
