Note that this page is a supplement to the Cisco Privacy Statement. In order to understand the data collection and use practices relevant for a particular product or solution, you should read both the Cisco Privacy Statement and any applicable supplement.
Cisco Systems, Inc. and affiliates ("Cisco") collect (a) a limited set of usage and performance data from your use of Cisco Jabber ("Analytics") and (b) data for problem solving which is only provided to Cisco upon your affirmative consent ("Technical Support"). These two types of data collection are each described separately, below. This policy explains the types of information that Cisco collects from Cisco Jabber, the types of information that Cisco does not collect from Cisco Jabber, an explanation of how Cisco uses the data that Cisco collects, and settings that an individual user and system administrator may modify to stop all data collection or to enhance data collection.
This statement applies only to the following Jabber clients (collectively "Jabber Clients"):
Cisco does not collect personally identifiable information as part of the data collected for Analytics. For Analytics, Cisco collects a limited set of usage statistics and performance data from the use of Jabber software clients. Cisco gathers this set of usage statistics without identifying Jabber users, analyzes them only after the data is aggregated, and uses them to improve the product's performance and usage.
How to disable data collection:
If you do not disable data collection, then you agree that Cisco may collect, use, process and store the data for Analytics.

How Cisco uses the data
Your organization can choose to have the data from your Cisco Jabber client associated with your organization's name or a random organization identifier chosen by your organization's administrator. This feature enables aggregation at the organizational level and is known as "Enhanced Data Collection." Regardless of whether Enhanced Data Collection is turned on, data is never associated with an individual user.
We do not:
Separately from the Analytics described above, Cisco might request that you provide data from the Jabber Client to help with problem reporting.
Data collected and stored on your device:
A Jabber Client saves a log on your device of events that occur within the Jabber Clients ("Event Data"). Some Jabber Clients also include an option under the Help menu in the Jabber Clients to enable "Detailed Logging," which captures an even richer set of data for problem diagnostics ("Detailed Event Data"). Personally identifiable information may be contained within the Event Data and Detailed Event Data such as:
Cisco cannot access the data without your consent.
Cisco cannot access the logs without your consent. You must send them to Cisco for Cisco to have access to them. When you select "Report a Problem..." under the Help menu, you will be presented with the Cisco Jabber Problem Reporting Tool ("PRT"). You have the option to send the Event Data and Detailed Event Data via an email to Cisco, but must manually do so. In addition, when requesting technical support, the technical support engineer may request that you send the data to Cisco solely for the purposes of problem resolution. When you choose to send the data to Cisco through the PRT, the PRT will harvest the Event Data and Detailed Event Data, if any, from your device.
Cisco Uses the Data Only for Technical Support
Cisco uses this information only for diagnostic process to determine the cause of the technical issue reported by you. The logs may be transferred across borders worldwide and stored temporarily as part of the diagnostic process. By using the PRT, you consent to provide the logs to Cisco in order to enable Cisco to troubleshoot any technical problems with Cisco Jabber, as described above.
