In partnership with Rio de Janeiro’s city and state governments, Cisco is establishing a foundation that will help Rio to position itself as a smart, connected and innovative city. Through the Innovation Legacy program, Cisco and the IoE Innovation Center will partner with local organizations and companies to deliver core networks and smart urban solutions. This will create a transformational experience for both visitors and citizens during the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and will leave a legacy long after the event is over.
It will also be explored partnerships with global and local organizations to develop programs to incentivize entrepreneurship and promote Rio as an innovation hub. With the combined power of technology, human innovation, local collaboration and the passion inspired by the Games, the Innovation Center will deliver a significant impact and be a key catalyst in advancing the transformation of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.
The Cisco IoE Innovation Center Rio de Janeiro links a broad ecosystem of Cisco, Brazilian, Latin American, and worldwide partners creating and delivering solutions around Cisco´s IoE platform. The IoE Innovation Center accelerates the ability to seize new market opportunities and capture the value in IoE.
Global Developer Program
The IoE Innovation Center Rio de Janeiro is Latin America´s hub of DevNet, the global developer program at Cisco. The DevNet website contains more than 100 sets of APIs. Developers can create applications that enhance or manage Cisco networks. They can also develop apps to sell to customers.
The Center speeds the development of projects based on Cisco products, benefiting interested companies, autonomous developers, and startups. DevNet adds to the Center´s support toolset for projects focused on IoE and helps foster the development of the local innovation ecosystem.
Startups
The Cisco IoE Innovation Center fosters the development of new Brazilian technology companies. It encourages and helps enable startups to build IoE solutions using Cisco technologies.
The IoE Innovation Center engages with the startup community primarily through partnerships with the two venture capital funds which Cisco supports, Monashees and Redpoint eVentures.
University Programs

The IoE Innovation Center runs the Brazilian chapter of the Cisco International Internship Program (IIP). Cisco IIP offers top students from select international partner universities an opportunity to come to the United States for a year to gain industry experience as part of their education.
