Problem Description
After a hitless upgrade from SAN-OS release 2.(X) to 3.0 or 3.1, if at least one Generation 1 line card is up, creating a port channel ID greater than 128 will power down all Generation 1 line cards.
Note: Generation 1 or a mix of Generation 1 and Generation 2 supported range of Port Channel interface ID's is 1-128. Generation 2 alone supported range of Port Channel interface ID's is 1-256.
Background
The largest port-channel number supported with Generation 1 line cards is 128 and the largest port channel number supported in generation 2 line cards is 256. However, in an environment, where customers have a mix of Generation 1 and Generation 2 line cards, customer must not configure any port-channel IDs greater than 128.
Problem Symptom
Generation 1 line cards suddenly power down after users create port channel ID greater than 128 in a mix Generation 1 and Generation 2 line cards environment.
This problem only occurs in a hitless upgrade from SAN-OS release 2.(X) to 3.0 or 3.1.
Note: This problem does not happen in a hitful upgrade.
Workaround/Solution
Users must not create port-channel with port-channel ID greater than 128 where they have a mix of Generation 1 and Generation 2 line cards.
The following two scenarios describe possible workarounds:

Before user has encountered this problem:
After a hitless upgrade, if user has not yet created any port-channels greater than 128, user can recover from this problem by powering down and powering back up any one of the Generation 1 line cards. This action should activate the error-check on the port channel command.

User accidentally created a port-channel greater than 128:
If user has already encountered this problem after a hitless upgrade, the only work around would be to power down all Generation 1 line cards. Delete port channels that are greater than 128. Then power back up the Generation 1 line cards. This action should activate the error-check on the port channel command.
Note: This issue has been addressed in SAN-OS release 3.2.(1) and later versions, which prevents the creation of port channel number greater than 128 in a mixed Generation 1 and Generation 2 line cards environment.
