The end-of-sale date for the Cisco® 7200 Series NPE-200 Network Processing Engine and Cisco 7206 Router chassis was January 1, 2002. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until January 27, 2007.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco NPE-200 and Cisco 7206 chassis. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement and replacement product information. This notice is an addendum to the original Cisco NPE-200 and Cisco 7206 chassis end-of-sale and end-of-life bulletin.
The end of software support for the Cisco NPE-200 and Cisco 7206 chassis follows:
• Software support ends in Cisco IOS® Software releases 12.1(14)E, 12.2(24), 12.0(27)S, and 12.2(15)T.
• The last date to receive support from the Cisco TAC is January 27, 2007.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco NPE-200 is the Cisco NPE-400. Note that the Cisco NPE-400 requires a Cisco 7200VXR chassis. The Cisco NPE-400 has a higher sustained throughput rate, and it uses a higher-performance RISC processor. In addition, the Cisco NPE-400 supports additional caching and SDRAM memory capacity as well as Error Correction Code (ECC)-protected memory.
The Cisco 7206VXR is the recommended replacement for the Cisco 7206. The Cisco 7206VXR has a faster backplane than the Cisco 7206 (up to 1 GBps versus 500 KBps), and has integrated multiservice interchange (MIX) functionality.
Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco Systems® equipment. For more information about Cisco TMP, go to: http://www.cisco.com/go/tradein/. The Cisco TMP application requires all users to have a Cisco.com user ID.
Port Adapter Support
Cisco 7200VXR systems support all port adapters supported on the Cisco 7200, except for the ones listed in Table 4. Alternative solutions for these port adapters are also listed in the table.
